Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu is a 1200-year-old martial art that is a Japanese National Treasure. The classical joint-locks, throws and internal strikes from this authentic Takeda-clan samurai art are beautiful and effective. Far more than a “combative system”, this is a true art of war, able to help students develop, body and mind, refining rare high-level skills. Roy Goldberg Sensei, a world-renown teacher with four decades of shugyo, has been awarded the Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu rank of 7th Dan, and the prestigious Hi Ogi third scroll by Kodo Kai in Japan. He is the only non-Japanese to ever receive these honors.
True Aiki is to steal the opponent’s will to fight with a single glance. -Takeda Sokaku O-Sensei
Bushidokai Traditional Martial Arts offers Daito Ryu Aiki Jujutsu training, under David LoPriore Sensei, L.Ac., a senior student and Study Group Head under Goldberg Sensei. Daito Ryu’s classical waza focus on throwing, joint-locking, choking, and pinning, and the development of “Aiki” internal power for advanced techniques. We also teach rarely-seen bunkai (hidden or secret applications) involving advanced striking arts and combat applications of these waza as lethal kyushojutsu acupuncture point strikes. David LoPriore Sensei, a Licensed Acupuncturist with over 25 years’ experience, has been teaching traditional Japanese martial arts for 35 years. He still trains with Goldberg Sensei on a monthly basis. Roy Goldberg Sensei teaches seminars at Bushidokai six times/year.
